* Normally, only the basic wage component of an employee’s salary applies for the purpose of calculating end-of-service entitlements.
Note on Calculation:
Under UAE Labour Law:
1. Eligibility for end of service gratuity arises upon completion of one year of continuous service.
2. Gratuity is calculated based on the basis of the employee’s basic wage as follows:
- 21 days’ basic wage for each of the first five years of continuous service.
- 30 days’ basic wage for each additional year of service beyond the fifth year.
- Pro-rata calculation applies to any partial years of service.
3. The maximum gratuity payable shall not exceed the equivalent of two years’ basic wage, regardless of the total period of service.
